This Recaro ProSport car seat model has side-impact protection and absorbing foam, as well as a head restraint lever and recline mechanism. The seat’s enhanced head wings limit head and neck movement and shield the infant’s head during side-impact incidents.
The five-point harness can be customized to the growing baby; and the push-button LATCH system keeps the seat stable in the vehicle; a top tether system provides added anchoring. The comfortable, ergonomic seat molds to the child’s shape. The upper weight limit of the harness system is 90 pounds, and the booster seat has a limit of 120 pounds, the highest such limit anywhere.
NOTE: There are several Recaro ProSport car seats described at the JC Penney website, including the ProSport Toddler car seat, but none of these are customer reviewed. The article below is about the Recaro ProSport Combination Harness To Booster Car Seat, which has 75 Amazon reviews.

Recaro ProSport – Negative Reviews
Out of 75 Amazon reviews, only ten were one-to-three stars, but out of those came several common complaints. The first and most serious is that the harness system was too tight for older children, even toddlers (a similar complaint is found from customers who used the Recaro ProSport car seat); the seat thus allowed for very little “growth” (or the padding of a winter coat, for instance), and may cause discomfort to the child and possible restraint trauma if there is an accident.
Another serious objection was the adjustments for the shoulder harness, which are within easy reach of the child while strapped in, thus allowing the ingenious older child, who possesses the necessary coordination, to loosen his/her straps all the way off when the car is in motion.
These are the most serious objections; others included the mesh pocket, too small to store anything, and the lack of a cup holder.
Recaro ProSport – Positive reviews
Almost every Recaro ProSport review in this category has a small “disclaimer” (such as those noted above), but the major portion of each review is laudatory. Many customers praise the overall design and the unmatched weight limits (many also note that they have been using the seat for years, and strapping their children in for the first two or three).
The top notch construction, with its side-impact features and its cocoon-like shell that encases the baby, were much praised also, and the side bolsters allowed more leg protection than any other model.
Easy installation and strapping in and out were outstanding features that were also mentioned, as well as the positive experiences most children had growing into the seat and taking long-distance drives in it.
The price tag made some hesitate, but most seem completely happy with the purchase, and the peace of mind most customers experience appears to be worth the extra expense.
Recaro ProSport – Conclusion
The Recaro ProSport Combination Harness to Booster Car Seat seems to follow in the footsteps of the other fine Recaro models available, in that it reflects the engineering skill of the Recaro brand (which after all produces some of finest premiere car seats in the world).
The 4.5 average rating for this model pronounces it one of the best available anywhere, and the price tag, while upper end, seems reasonable for most customers interested in child safety. Several colors are available on this model, including Blue Opal ($228.45), Midnight ($223.99), Misty ($227.89), Envy ($241.15) and the shocking pink little girls’ color blend, the Hanna ($279.00).
