Safety 1^st Summit Deluxe high back booster seat reviews were exclusively positive, in the four to five star range, so extrapolating negatives is not easy.  One customer remarked that the side holders, set below the cup holder, are too far under the seat to be of use to the child, but can still hold his/her toys and playthings.  Another complained that, while the seat had excellent construction, it was a pain to take it apart to clean (this customer also acknowledged that it was nice to be able to clean a car seat!).

The cup holder came under fire for being inconveniently located as well (by the child’s feet), so that the parent has to reach back whenever the cup needs to be picked up or set down (admittedly a standard problem with any baby strapped in).  Also, the recline moves the seatbelt, forcing the base itself to move when the seatbelt is tight, necessitating readjustment.

It is far easier to garner positives about the Safety 1^st Summit Deluxe high back booster, starting with the price, which most reviewers loved (at least on the Quarry color model, but then all models are within ten dollars of each other). The padding on the shoulder straps was highly praised as being an excellent idea that many car seats did not carry; the straps thus give extra protection to the child’s head.

The cup holder, in one review, as called a “sweet” feature (this parent obviously did not mind turning back to handle the cup), and the harness strap was called “amazing”; there is no more need to undo and rethread the strap to raise the height, which caused the reviewer to achieve something of a euphoria.  Easy installation was touted, and one reviewer’s children seemed to enjoy the ride (when not sleeping); the general tone of the reviews was very pleased.

Safety 1^st Summit Deluxe – Conclusion

Despite the qualifiers attached to Safety 1^st Summit Deluxe car seat (and they came exclusively from the positive reviews), the Safety 1^st Summit Deluxe appears to be a winner, achieving 4.4 stars out of 5, and being one of the few car seat products on Amazon to garner comments such as “amazing” for single features.  At $84.54 (the Quarry color; other colors such as Nitron and Facet came in at $99.99 and $96.88, respectively), the seat is a genuine bargain in price, construction and especially customer (and apparently infant) satisfaction.  All that said, we can join the crowd and recommend it with certainty.
