Pros

The seat is adjustable and attaches nicely to all car models.

Cons

The safety clip of the seat belt is stored under the right thigh of the baby, so you need to buy some high impact foam for fixing it and ensuring that the baby feels soft all the time.
The straps have to be tightened from the rear of the seat which can be quite tedious.
It is quite difficult for men to open the chest harness as it is too small and women find it really stiff to open.
The plastic shell of the seat is a bit bulky and is not quite appealing.
The handle, though convenient, still lacks a good design when compared to other baby seats.

Do keep in mind that this Graco carseat has been consistently rated high on safety ratings and is being reviewed very positively on all the Consumer Reports. The only con that marks it points down is that the fabric can get hot. Though to combat this issue one can always ensure that the baby is dressed in a light manner.

“Great Carseat

I ordered this carseat for my baby when I was expecting because it just seemed the smart thing to do with babies coming into this world at 8+ lbs and 19″+ long! Well our little boy came into this world weighing 7.06 lbs and measuring 20″ long! Most rear facing carseats only go up to 22 lbs and 22″ long, so this was definitely a wise choice. He’s only 13 days old and we have used the carseat on 3 occassions and so far so good! It’s spacious enough so that he doesn’t feel cramped or confined once buckled in. The downfall to that is that his head bobs a bit too much for me because the infant insert is still a little too big. We purchased an additional head support piece (not Graco) to resolve this issue. It works well… He was awake when he was placed in it the second time and he cried a bit but calmed down after he was all tucked in. The other times he was asleep and remained sleeping… The carrier is easy enough to remove from the base which is a huge plus. The colors are rich looking with a baby feel (the green), and can work for either boy or girl (I didn’t know what I was having when I ordered it)…The straps are easy enough to adjust once you read the instructions. What a great carseat! I bought this for my 9 month old son after he outgrew the Graco Snugride (loved it too!). It is super easy to install and getting him in and out of it is a breeze. You never have to rethread the straps as the child grows taller because they are easily adjusted even with the child sitting in the seat! I love how the straps tighten with the use of a knob at the base of the seat. My 3 year old has the Alpha Omega Elite and you have to pull the strap in between his legs to tighten the straps. I thought really liked the Alpha Omega Elite until we got the Triumph Advance. Also, washing the carseat cover is a snap…a few hooks to loosen and the whole cover comes off and can be thrown in the washing machine. Our other carseat has to be taken out of the car and almost completely taken apart…what a pain. I actually just boght another Triumph Advance for my 3 year old and retired his Alpha Omega Elite…it just didn’t compare! “We have only had this car seat for about a week and only rear facing. But so far we love it! I was less then thrilled with our first Graco car seat (the harness straps ALWAYS get suck underneath, huge pain to tighten/loosen.)
It’s very easy to tighten/loosen the harness straps. Adjusting the height of the straps, the part by their shoulders, is just a matter of pulling up or down. They slide, meaning you don’t have to rethread the whole seat to adjust the shoulder position.
She still has a couple good inches of leg room before she’ll actually hit the back seat, which is good. (She’s nine months old, tall for her age.)
It seems to be pretty bulky but that may be normal?? I don’t have anything to compare it to.
It fits pretty well in our Gr Cherokee.

One thing to note…Evenflo makes another Symphony, which is cheaper. But note the other Symphony has a lesser weight limit for the harness. I believe the capacity is 60 pounds. It says the car seat can hold up to 100 pounds, which is correct when using it as a booster with the regular car seat belt. But to use the harness the limit is 60 pounds. “This car seat was a life saver!

Our daughter is almost 4 months now and cried everytime we placed her in her infant seat, except on the day home from the hospital. We couldn’t drive down the road without listening to screams – the only time we went anywhere was if she was asleep and often she woke up the minute we put her in her seat. My 8 year old and I would both sit in the back seat with her, it didn’t matter. I read the reviews on this seat so we went to 2 different stores and placed her in the demo. She was fine. My mother offered to purchase it for us so we got it.

Sketptical?
I was skeptical, so I first took her for a 5 minute ride – no crying. The next day I chanced 15 minutes – still no crying. The third day we went to my mother’s – a 40 minute drive each way. Within a week we were willing to try her on a 3 hour trip. She did great!

I think the key for us was my daughter can see out and doesn’t feel confined like the infant seat. She spends most trips gazing out the window and quietly sucking her thumb.

Size
I’ve read people complain about the size, but it fits fine in our Toyota Prius and our Subaru Outback. In fact it actually allows the front passanger seat to be further back than our previous car seat with a base (Graco Snugride).

Buy Two!
We’ve had the seat now for 3 weeks and no crying! My husband asks me everyday “How was she in the car” and everyday I say “GREAT!” We bought a second one for the other car.

Installation
This is the easiest car seat I have ever installed, we use the latch system in the Prius and in my mother’s car. IT is so much easier than the latch with the Graco seat. Using latch it takes only minutes to go from one car to another. In the Subaru we use the regular shoulder/seat belt (it’s 8 years old so latch wasn’t available). Which I still like better than the Graco.

It is quite expensive, but to us well worth it. If you’re still reading this then you want this seat! (It doesn’t feed hungry babies, so they may still fuss.)

“SAFEST OUT THERE

I did A TON of research on convertible infant-toddler car seats before my son outgrew his Graco SnugRide at 4 months. Consumer Reports gave this and another seat the highest safety ratings (this seat had the highest rating of all Britax convertible seats!) I chose this seat because it has EPS side-impact protection under the carseat cover. It’s worth the extra money because it’s your child’s life! Also, it’s really easy to tighten and loosen the straps, and the cover is really silky and comfortable. My son falls asleep within minutes of pulling out of the driveway.

My only gripes are that none of the existing toddler pillow neck/head supports fit into the seat, but that may be a problem with the manufacturers of the supports, not Britax. Excellent manufacturing and use of high quality materials make the Britax car seat extremely durable and is bound to last for years, or at least until you child outgrows it. The manufacturer claims that it is height adjustable using only one hand and this is a very convenient and easy to use feature, enabling you to move things around even when you’re driving. Another unparalleled safety feature is the simple pull cord tab in the front of the seat which ensures that you can release the harness in a matter of seconds in case of an emergency.

As far as safety is concerned the Britax Frontier Booster Car Seat is as reliable as a tank. Another advantage of the britax frontier is its convenience when it comes to installation and storage, or transporting the thing. The seat comes with a simple yet immovable latch system, where it is secured at 3 points to the car making sure it stays where it is supposed to. Two side latches, and an additional clip on top make sure that the seat doesn’t move an inch under any circumstances. And what makes this seat even more impressive is the fact that these latches snap into their own recesses on the seat itself if you decide to remove it from the car and carry it around.

The two key requirements of a toddler car seat, namely its design and safety features are more than adequate in the Britax Frontier, and the makers have surprised users by finding the space to pack in a host of if not necessary, certainly excellent features. “Read the manual!!!

I just purchased the Frontier and installed it in my car. This is my 5th Britax car seat, I have had 3 Marathons and one Parkway. I notice several people complain about ease of install on the Frontier, and I have one thing to say. READ THE MANUAL!!! I skimmed the manual when I got it, figuring that LATCH installation would be similar to all the other Britax seats I have had. After strugging with it for a while, I went back to the manual and discovered – it isn’t. The LATCH buckles are recessed into the body of the seat, which makes it impossible to tighten the conventional way one tightens a Marathon or a Roundabout. You must reach BEHIND the seat pad and pull the LATCH tethers tight that way. Perfect, Britax quality solid installation. It is illustrated that way in the manual, and had I read it thoroughly I would have had this seat in in less than 5 minutes. So, shame on me. Second, in harness mode, you MUST flip the bottom of the seat from booster mode to harness mode. This is also in the manual. Lastly, people have complained that the straps twist – the manual addresses this too. Instead of the strap velcro that the Marathon had, Britax suggests you use the armrests to hold the straps back out of the way. Viola! No twisting.

All in all, I think this is a great seat and another example of quality Britax engineering. I can foresee that Britax might have issues with people not being able to install this seat properly, though, because people don’t READ THE MANUAL!!! Can I again suggest to read the manual? I gave this seat 4 stars instead of 5 only because I wish it came in more colors and patterns – I loved my Cowmooflage seats, and am not impressed with the color and pattern selection available here. This is the last car seat I will buy, it will take my son all the way through until he can ride like an adult.” READ MORE HERE
